post maternity leave

daydreaming of scraping poop out of cloth diapers, making bottles, laundry, baby puke and cooking....the good life!

monday was my first day back to work from maternity leave. one word: sucks. i never thought i would want to be a stay at home mom, heck i never thought i would have kids! and here i am, going crazy NOT being at home.

sunday night i cried like a baby (so punny today) for a few hours. when i wasn't crying i was moping around. so dramatic. monday rolled around and i felt a temporary reprieve, a burst of enthusiasm about the seemingly fresh start at work. it ended, quickly. today is thursday and i still want to be at home with penelope. unfortunately, like most families we need both incomes and i can't stay home. there's also the issue of insurance. matt is a freelance photographer so our insurance is through my employer.

the good news- we found a lovely nanny and i truly trust her with penelope. she sings to her, stimulates her developing senses, cleans for us and is a pleasure to be around. we found her on care.com, while i was weary of going the online route, i'm even more weary of daycare! she's too little and I'M not ready for that. more good news: matt works from home and is there most of the time, unless it's a shoot day. even more good news: i work super close and visit her every day on my break. it's a sweet time, her expressions when she first sees me are SO cute. melts my heart.

i dont know if i'll ever get to stay home with her but i'm lucky in that i get to see her in the middle of the day, even just for an hour. if you don't have that luxury, how do you deal? if you do stay at home, what sacrifices did you have to make?

for now i'm a working gal, missing my penelope so much!
