inaugural post...a brief history of us

the littlest rainwaters is my husband, matt and i's daughter penelope, who is literally the littlest member of the rainwaters family. 

let's rewind to how our family came to be....

i met matthew brian rainwaters in 2007 at his bat show in a small gallery in east austin, studio 1906, known today as public school. he doesn't remember meeting me but i remember him. it was a few casual run ins and 5 years before we started dating. but we both knew fairly soon we'd be together forever. and after 8 months matt asked me to marry him in big sur, california. it was the most important and perfect day of my life. for many reasons. because matt and i made penelope the day of our engagement, maybe the day before or after, but the day of makes for a better story.

we found out about our little engagement present in december, and eloped in an intimate and most lovely ceremony on 1.8.12.

little penelope frances rainwaters was born on 8.13.12, 3 days before her due date but not a moment too soon for me. best day of my life. 

i am starting this blog to document my family and memories; all of them. the hard ones, the sweet ones; a raw, honest depiction of what a young family looks like.
