my husband matt is an editorial features photographer and every now and then i get to tag along on shoots. i'd been itching for an adventure or mini trip the last few weeks, so i was really excited when matt asked if we'd go to hey, texas for a shoot. so we pretty much packed up penelope's room and headed west for the garrison brother's whiskey distillery.
one of the garrison brothers invited us to stay the night on the distillery property in an rv. now i like glamping (glamorous camping) but a confined sleeping quarters with a baby? are we crazy? i think so.
left: penelope snoozin' on our tour; right: obv matt's idea
this was penelope's bedroom for the night until i put her in bed with us. note: the summer sleeper is awesome!! highly recommend.
penelope literally slept for MAYBE two hours. which means i slept for MAYBE 30 minutes.
hypothesis on why she didn't sleep: new environment. it was freezing, her little hands and feet were ice so i put her in her summer sleeper in the bed between us. howling coyotes. and me. i was probably the main reason. paranoid ol' me kept shaking her awake to see if she was okay. i am the epitome of a paranoid new mom.
the next day penelope walked around the property and chased roosters. i drank an enormous amount of coffee and talked with the whiskey workers, who are by the way, SO sweet. then we packed up and headed home, penelope screamed her cute little head off most of the way.
this girl loves the trees
